Leave it to Italian designers to transform the least-cool accessory into the next big thing. Gucci and Armani have both announced their plans to sell high end 3-D glasses.

With the growing popularity of 3-D movies and an increasing number of television specials in 3-D format, wearing glasses made of cardboard and colored film was bound to lose its charm.

While designer 3-D glasses are sure to set you back a pretty penny, Gucci and Armani will ensure that you are the only stylish person in the theater. Forget the easy-to-spot green and red lenses of past 3-D glasses, both design houses are releasing sleek unisex models based on the classic 80s aviator glasses.

The Gucci 3D glasses come with a luxury price tag - ringing up at $225.
You have time to save your milk money because the line won’t be released in December. For the budget 3-D fashionista, Armani Exchange 3D glasses will cost a mere $58. The question is - will you sacrifice your paycheck for Italian fashion?
