1 WELCOME BACK TO THE FORUM!

A bit garish I know, but we will sort it out soon!

The old data from the forum is still being sorted out, so we have decided to put it back up as a blank sheet - when we get hold of the old posts, we will re-integrate it back into the forum.

Sorry about the long wait - and having to re-register!

Hopefully, we are all sorted now and we can carry on where we left off!

Happy posting.

E ben tornato anche !

Missed you man !

Ernie

Welcome back.

Seems like ages :!:

Good to have you back. I've missed the forum over the last few weeks.

It's such a relief to have these boards back! I went on leave last year and came back to no Italymag forums - I thought I had done something wrong!

You really should have a smiley that conveys 'phew'...

It's good to be back - This will come out as a guest as for some reason my password is not working - and Domino 1512 will soon change to Forza Brescia - but will be just as useless when someone needs help and just as inqisative with just as many poor spellings

I have been checking every day for the last two weeks and have missed this forum

Now then i have a few questions in mo wheni have more time

Thank god you're back. I was beginning to get the DTs!

despite the risk of maybe being removed from this site...and the pleasure at its return....and knowing this is a free and helpful service ... and all this is freely admitted and acknowledged i think that whoever runs your operations in the computer sense should be sacked and hopefully they have nothing to do with your commercial side of things...

i say this from two points of view....coming from a computer environment where a guaranteed up time of 99.5 unless met resulted in financial penalties and changes had to be pre planned and working in a test environment before being initialised live....

to maintain a falacy about old forums being lost when all that is required is a back up disk to be loaded is playing on ignorance and making excuses for failure...

we could loose all our servers and be up and running in a back up site within thirty minutes

....there are enough knowledgeable people on this forum about the internet and web sites that feeble excuses will remain in their minds as just such.....

...i am happy to have it back...any punishment for my views indeed even banning will be accepted without complaint......i am sorry to have lost what was a good and varied database on all things italian..... i have reccomended people to use it to find removal firms ...hotels...houses ...via the reccomendations....alas they are no longer there

LOL @ 'Guest' whoever you may be (please register), I understand your disbelief, but believe me, there was much more to this than simply swapping the servers and not uploading a database.

First of all, the change of server was to enable a smooth maintenance of the site in future as the site was still being hosted by a former webmaster, and to try and get access to the server company when we hit problems was pretty much impossible. The same goes for the data from the old database. It should be there, backed up, and uploading it is a simple task, HOWEVER - we have to get access to it from another source first. Again, the transfer of dns servers, who knows were the server was - not us!

This was an 'inherited' site with many flaws and 'missing' parts, not least a server who I couldn't (wasn't allowed to!!!) actually contact when necessary.

We are, as you can see, STILL waiting for the previous host to tell us where the data is and give us access to it, but, everything else is now under our control - on our servers with the old forum data being the last piece of the puzzle we are waiting for.

It takes a lot more than your comments to upset me, and rest assured I wont be banning you, but please be aware of all the facts before you go calling for people's heads.

Enjoy your new 'hassle free' italymag website and forum.

Regards

Mark :D :D

Hi Mark

Good to see the forum back, despite what Rambling Sid Rumpole has said!! I remember the company I work for getting zapped by a virus that shot the email system stone dead and the number of people, who like me have no knowledge of how computer systems work, who complained most bitterly! And they were grown-ups - well, sort of!

Anyway, good to be back

Regards

Peter

its been so long that i have forgotten who i used to be......so i came up with this name.....the signature is still the same.... and for what its worth abruzzo is still my place of preference
i am glad to have this discussion forum back and look forward to annoying lots more people whilst agreeing with some and using it as a point of reference and help about all things italian....i find the colors bright and cheerful....its a bit cold here at the moment so anything that warms is welcome.
i

Yes, have to agree ...... it's nice to be back in here!

John, i look forward to reading your annoying (never!) and heartfelt comments again ;)

And Mark, I didn't mind the wait .... but the constant 'teasing promises' of 'back on the .......', were just downright cruel <shakes fist>

!!!!!!! :(

OK! I was again not under control of that! (I'm really getting shot at here arent I?) The update time was discussed and decided upon by not only myself, but the owners of Italy Magazine and our new server company - each time we put a start date, something happened to make it impossible - each time it was completely out of our hands and due to other people.

I've apologised, We're back up, Im not apologising any more though!

So please, enjoy the Forum and leave me to sit in the corner and suck my thumb LOL :D :D

Mark

Welcome back, it has been a long wait without my daily fix of Italymag forums, keep up the good work...

Just to say ...so glad the forum is back...already it is proving invaluable to us as we get ready to move lock stock and smoking dog ( no...she doesn't smoke...honest !!!) to Puglia.

Thank Marc and everyone else in getting it back...and everyone out there who participates .......Happy Valentines Day !!!!! 8) 8) :D
