1125 transfer time at milan airport, international to domestic

Hi, I have a 45 minute transfer time from a london flight to regional at malpensa airport (Alitalia). This seems quite brief - has anyone any advice on this - like is the information clear on arrival - and should we wear spiked running shoe to make the connection...?

it seems too brief if you have to check in again.

P

It will be tight! - look at the Malpensa website for terminal details.

We have just returned from Bari via Milan. If you fly into and out of Malpensa you might be Ok, provided that your inward flight is on time. Both fligts will probably be from terminal 1. we flew from Manchester and that was the case. However, if you are changing to Linate for your onward flight in Italy there is no way you can do it even if your flights are on time. You can get the times and prices for the bus transfers on the Milan Malpensa website.

When you check in they will automatically check in your luggage to your ultimate destination so you will not see it again until you get there. When you arrive at Malpensa 45 mins is sufficient to make the connecting flight (my aged Mother has done it on numerous occasions). You will have to go through passport control, if there is a queue head straight to the front, if anyone questions your doing so they usually understand if you explain that you have to make a connection. The only possible problem is if the London flight is delayed, they will probably not hold the ongoing flight, however you will automatically be booked onto the next flight.
Good luck.

Yes, but having experienced this, the chances are that when you get to your destination your luggage will have arrived before you, then it will be sent back on the next flight (before you arrive) and you will have to spend the first night at your destination without luggage or wait at the airport until they send it on the next flight.

Happens every time with Alitalia.

Fortunately we have never had this problem, perhaps our visitors have just been lucky. Just in case, it is always worth carrying any essentials in hand luggage and if it does occur always insist that the airline delivers your luggage to you when it does arrive. Why should you be further inconvenienced by waiting at an airport or to-ing and fro-ing to collect it when it does appear?
