Thank you so much for that,It's going to be interesting whichever way it goes! If we have an issue might just try getting an entry ticket and see what happens, never even though of that. Just flown back into Gatwick and they have a photo of the reg number, time and date on the ticket..not sure if Perugia has that technology yet. Will let you know and thanks again. Will check on Avis hire as well..been ripped off that many times by Hertz/Ryanair for(non)damage, empty tank etc..hence was cheaper to buy car and leave it at the airport. Thanks again, your help is much appreciated

Flip..Am I meant to say crepe lupo or summat like that? Thanks again for the information..that is exactly what does concern me about insurance.Hopefully will never have to make a claim(or be claimed against) Trying to be honest and paying for 12 months cover every year but only use the car for 4 weeks max(daft or what?) Fillide..you are scaring me..do you reckon reckon my car will be exempt from car park charges? Thank you again for the info..wish we could both just retire there, but needs must...here's hoping....anyone interested in a lovely Fiat Brava,no tax,no MOT,no service history, one flat tyre and one flat battery(any parking fines to be incurred by new owner)Thank you both again and hopefully not be abused for posting this.

Noooo!! Thanks Fillide, always wondered when they would. Was amusing when they expanded the airport(very sad) and built a new car park. Now,how on earth did they move all the cars? Do you know how much the levy is or do we need to get on the next Ryanair flight? Thanks again for the info..much appreciated.But...do you reckon I am still insured or not??

Interesting all this..I have been leaving my UK reg car at Perugia Airport for the past few years (along with many others, looking at the car park)...She has obviously got no tax or M.O.T but my insurers quite happily accept my annual payment.Does this mean I am legally insured or not?...Also,anyone who has SORN'd their car, beware,it is your responsibility to inform DVLA for renewal, not vice versa,as I found out to my cost(twice)..Stupid Northern Idiot!

Sagraisolar..As usual with these things, haven't got round to it yet!! You've just given me a kick up the backside to try it.As opposed to the serpentine,we are making five upright "C" shaped one inch threaded pipe(to make smaller diameter at one end) Do not know if 5 individual pipes would be less efficient than one single serpentine.Just a lot easier to try for first attempt, plus it's for a bit of fun anyway. There are also quite a few Jetmasters keep cropping up on ebay around £100-200,just waiting for one with the right dimensions. Will try both and again will keep you posted. Not back in Italy until June,so should be fun testing them in 40 degrees heat!! Thanks again for the info..

Costs should be(ish)..1600 miles,26 hours driving time, fuel should be around £220(at current prices) and toll  around £70, plus ferry(train) costs.Bearing in mind this is one way only.We used to do a regular trip to Tuscany in 2 days(then sleep for 3 days on arrival) Now we just take it easy and stop wherever looks nice(and cheap) There are a lot of good people on here who can advise where to stay if you want to plan it carefully.Just watch your speed in France!! And don't forget  beer testing kit,hi vis vests, triangles etc etc.Check on Michelin website for route planner, costs and legal requirements....Enjoy your trip!!!
