Hi.

I have a property in the Italian Alps, it is mortgage free and I was going wondering about the possibility of take a loan out against the house.

It's this something Italian banks look at ?

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has experienced and opinions of the Italian dental service? How did it compare to the UK regarding costs? I am sure the standard works be very good.

Thanks

Hi I am just trying to get a sense of roughly how much the waste tax is in your various areas.

I think part of the calculation is on the m2 of the property, would this include all outbuildings, the catena etc?

Hi we have just been up to our local commune and collected a form to apply for residency {EU passport holders}

My wife is an EU national {eire}

As I understand it she can apply in Italy for some sort of permit to stay which gets around the 90 in 180 day issue.

Does this mean that as her spouse I can then also gain the same status.

Question about pharmacies

I am currently in Italy but managed to forget my invaluable back tablets.

Do pharmacies require a doctors prescription are can you purchase medication over the counter.

Don't forget the second vignette for any trailer or caravan.

It also appears that you are allowed to travel through Switzerland if you are entering from a schegen country and traveling onto a schegen country and have followed the French entry requirements ( negative test within 72 hrs and. Declaration).

You should be fine.

Good luck and please update

The example they give on the website gives an example saying if driving back from Germany test in Germany, if you intend to stop in Belgium on the way back for several.... days test in Belgium.  Personally I am taking the stance that driving back directly with an overnight stay is fine.

We will see

This is the extract from the UK gov site. It appears that you can take the test in Italy prior to traveling back.

I can concur with your comments calais vets as we had to use their services once when the Italian vet completed the wrong sections.

Expensive.

Where to take your test

You can choose to take a test:

  • in the place where you start your journey
  • in another country on your way to England, if you are travelling through another country

Hi.

We are planning to go at the end of July provided Italy is not on the red list.

As far as I understand at the moment we would need to take a covid test within 3 days of our return to the UK.

I am planning to take my trailer but practically empty except for personal suitcases just to see how the customs crossings go.

As for winter driving it has never been a problem except for a self induced mistake when I took our rear wheel drive Mercedes estate (which was allergic to snow) off the clear main road onto a tiny unmade track with sheet ice! I wished I had practiced putting the chains on before that baptism of fire and looked to the satnav better.

Thanks I have got some local feedback, someone with experience is around 9 euros per hr. Their 20 year old son gets 50 per day there is a teenager who does chores (weeding etc) gets 6 per hour cash.

With the government's new testing required on returning to the UK this summer is looking unlikely so will definitely need help over there.

Thanks,  the term ruin is a bit of an exaggeration.

We have been doing work for years on the property with a Geometra.

I am now looking to pay someone to clear part of the garden and move soil etc. Which I was doing myself but am unable to continue due to lock down.

So just wanted an idea of what it would cost to pay cash in hand due labour.

I was intending to pay cash in hand.

Hi.

We are located at about 600m in Piedmonte. Have planted a couple of lemon trees, both in the ground in sheltered spots.

All our local friends have recounted tales of various failures by relatives etc trying to grow them but all in pots, not in the ground.

We have covered them for the winter with agricultural fleece and a local friend has stopped by to cheat the worst of the heavy snow off.

This is the first winter and hopefully we will get back over there soon.

Covid dependant.

Regards and best of luck
