As my husband is a veterinarian, we just received this from the USDA and thought this reminder for veterinarians along with these links might be helpful to those travelling abroad with pets from or to the USA:1. Country entry requirements do change. 2. Call the VS, New England area, export department for advice: 508-363-2260 or the appropriate number for your area if not in New England.3. Check the USDA - International Travel Regulations site (IREGS) for the latest export requirements. www.aphis.usda.gov/regulations/vs/iregs/animals/ 4. Provide original signatures on health certificates and official forms. 5. Include all required documentation. 6. Confirm chip identification numbers and rabies vaccination dates. 7. Warn owners not to start the process at the last minute. REMEMBER, entry requirements are set by the individual country, not the US Government! Entry requirements can change suddenly in response to disease reports or other reasons, and sometimes changes occur without much advance notice! Almost all problems can be prevented if the owner and the veterinarian check with the USDA, APHIS, VS, New England Area Office and the USDA international travel (IREGS) web pages first.
