We know Alitalia is a troubled airline, but it is heartening to know that, when it comes to food, Italy - even in the air - is the best.

For the 4th consecutive year, Alitalia has been voted “Best Airline Cuisine” in Global Traveler’s annual reader survey, the GT Tested Reader Survey Awards.

The menus offered in Magnifica class are inspired by the tradition of the Italian regions, and are developed in collaboration with Alma, the International School of Italian Cuisine directed by Gualtiero Marchesi; they are accompanied by wines selected in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association.

Upon learning the news, Alitalia tweeted, “For the fourth consecutive time the quality of our company's in-flight menu has been a winner. Thank you!”

Last October, Alitalia was awarded another important recognition: the "Best In-Flight Wine Program" by the magazine Saveur’s Culinary Travel Awards 2013, for the best food-wine pairing on board.

Global Traveler is a magazine aimed towards American executives who travel internationally and domestically in first and business class and is considered the source for luxury business travelers.

Have you traveled on Alitalia and what did you think of their food?
