Prima Casa and Residency question

Submitted by tony on

Hello there, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this issue. My wife and I are in about to complete the purchase of an appartment in Campagnia. We plan to spend at least six months of the year in Italy, but each stay is unlikely to be for more than one or two months. I understand that we would pay less tax on the property (3% v 10%) if we fulfilled the criteria for Prima Casa status. Whilst we plan to spend a large proportion of our time in Italy, it is highly unlikely that any one stay would be for more than three months.

landline for internet in the countryside

We have a house in the countryside in Sardinia. We have a TIM chiavetta for mobile broadband but there is no reception using this at the house for internet. (My TIM mobile phone does have reception however.) I don't actually want a landline but I do want an internet connection. I think the only solution is to get a landline and then an ADSL connection.
So, two questions -
1) is this correct that my only solution is a landline plus ADSL?

Banking

We are setting off in our Hymer next week to start our retirement in Italy. We have allowed ourselves 3 weeks before the signing of the rogito and moving in, to deal with legalities, acquire the various official documents we need and open bank accounts. We are thinking of opening a current account with the Post Office as we have been told that we can pay all our utility bills etc through them and bank charges are lower.
Does anyone have experience of dealing with them or can anyone offer any alternative suggestions?
Also can anyone recommend a good broadband provider?
