That they have initial low fares but charge for everything else? that they have no concept of customer relations? That if there is a problem they are generally horrific to deal with? That you know exactly what you're getting when you book Ryanair? That if you book last minute with them you are generally screwed? That they have in general offered incredible value and have allowed us to fly when we otherwise wouldn't? That they have (previously at least) introduced incredible competition into the market and have introduced us to the concept of flying to places we previously never heard of?I would have thought that all of the issues about Ryanair have been well thrown thrown around by now? Or is it dealing with things we don't yet know about Ryanair?

Of course an Irish car would have the steering wheel on the "wrong" side. Unless you import a left hand drive model and pay the VRT on it.I had understood that the restriction on buying a car really only applied to new cars. Is that not the case? I'm sure this issue has been covered many many times before. It might be worthwhile doing a search on the site here or even on the previous ItalyMag forum.

I'd second all of the excellent advice given above. It's not clear whether your friend wants to move permanently or just have a holiday home. One consideration to bear in mind is whether or not they want a property that includes land. A bit of green area is a nice idea but if it's just a holiday home they're after then maybe they don't need the bother of having to maintain the area themselves or getting someone to do it. Also I think someone mentioned before about having to harvest trees such as fig trees on the land becuse if you they're not harvested they can rot on the tree and cause smell and attract insects. Just another little consideration! Also if you want a swimming pool be conscious of the fact that there is work involved in looking after that too.For holiday use too I'd say easy access is a major issue. In my view, you really need to be within a couple of hours of a major airport where there is no likelihood of a low-cost carrier pulling out and leaving you stranded. Also being on a bus route or a train line is an added advantage.

I don't know the ins and outs of Italian landlord & tenant law but it seems to me if the tenant isn't looking for too much it might be easier to pay it to him to get hom out immediately rather than put the time and effort into a legal battle where you end up paying more to the lawyers. What about the tenant moving into the property where your son is presently staying? Could they do a swop?

We had an English painter from Loreto Aprutino paint the inside of our apartment and vanish the shutters and we were very pleased with the work. Loreto's probably about 2 hours from you though so I don't know if he'd travel that far. If you want his details you can PM me.Good luck with finding someone anyway.

When we were in Italy at the beginning of the month everyone was going crazy playing Enalotto. We played too and won €25.00. We hadn't a clue what we were doing though. Coudl anyone explain how you're supposed to play? What are the Superstars all about?

I've received an email from Lorna Richardson of PropertiesAroundItaly who advises as follows:-"We sold a lovely large house to an English gentleman who wished to retire here and run a B and B business in Italy, he has therefore furnished the entire property with nice new furniture, beds, sofa, drawer units etc etc, however sadly he did not realise his dream and has died suddenly.   His family have now instructed us to sell the property and its contents.    As you can no doubt understand we would like to be able to obtain as much as possible for them, especially under the circumstances, therefore in this connection I thought first to all of you who are trying to furnish your properties and rather than go all the way to Pescara etc perhaps some of this furniture would suit your needs.     I have the keys to the property and plan to take pictures of the items available, also if you are planning to come here soon then I would be happy to take you to the property and you can then make an offer for anything which is of interest to you.    In the event that your property is not yet restored we would just mark the item sold to you and then it could be taken to your property when you are ready for it. This gentleman was also collecting Abruzzo throwovers/rugs, which are typical to this region, therefore these are also for sale at a lot less than you would pay in the local shops, if any of these are of interest to you, they are new and in many colours and sizes." If anyone wants their contact details they can PM me.

There are a number of great restaurtants in Sulmona and around. One of our favourites in Cantini Di Biffi just off Corso Ovidio near to the Annunziata which never fails to impress. You can sit back and he'll bring out course after course of whatever is "on" that night - all cooked by Mamma in the kitchen. Absolutely delightful. Fabulous wines too. And no I've no involvement in the place! There's reputed to be a Michelen star level restaurant in nearby Pacentro but we haven't made it there yetnor sussed out what it's called.

June 23rd is the Feast of St. John and in many countries it is traditional to have a bonfire on St. John's eve. Maybe you could work your bonfire into that?
