Did anyone just feel that earth tremor at 11pm. Here near Amandola it was very strong but short, the first we have felt for a while. Hope this does not mean there is worse to come.

Had a great meal in Da Cicco in Gualdo last night. Although it was 10pm when we arrived, Michelle the lovely waitress was very helpful and friendly (she is Romanian) and spoke very good Italian and English.

Hi S & J Sorry haven't been on here for such a long time and just seen your post. We had the same problem with our CF's and found out after many attempts, that you have to put in your 'middle' name if you have one also. This worked when registering for our Banco Posta online account. Hope this helps! S & M

But I know what you mean about post offices and the 65c stamp situation. Our local post office hasn't had any in stock for months and months and makes us pay for a 75c one each time! She does seem to suck in a lot of air each time we ask.

Well we have seen the apartment and it is really lovely. In a very pleasant area of Ancona and very convenient for the busses and trains. The flatmates are not bad either. Only joking - they are lovely!

You WILL get your chickens A - eventually - look you got your steps, didn't you? Here's a joke for you to start with A - not a Christmas one but we liked it!Can you get married in HEAVEN?On their way to get married, a young Catholic couple had a fatal car accident.  The couple found themselves sitting outside the Pearly Gates waiting for St. Peter to process them into Heaven. While waiting, they began to wonder:  Could they possibly get married in Heaven?  When St. Peter showed up, they asked him.  St. Peter said, 'I don't know.  This is the first time anyone has asked.  Let me go find out,' and he leaves.  The couple sat and waited, and waited.  Two months passed and the couple still waited.  As they waited, they discussed that if they were allowed to get married in Heaven, what was the eternal aspect of it all.  'What if it doesn't work?' they wondered, 'are we stuck together forever?' After yet another month, St. Peter finally returned, looking somewhat bedraggled.  'Yes,' he informed the couple, 'you can get married in Heaven.'  'Great!' said the couple, 'But we were just wondering, what if things don't work out?  Could we also get a divorce in Heaven?'St. Peter, red-faced with anger, slammed his clipboard onto the ground.  'What's wrong?' asked the now frightened and confused couple.    'OH, COME ON!', St. Peter shouted, 'It took me three months to find a priest up here!  Do you have ANY IDEA how long it'll take me to find a Lawyer?!'

Answer to: Gas Prices
Fri, 11/27/2009 - 08:16

Richard - don't give up - we didn't!!! We spend around €2000 per year on gas and we were told the time before last that we could only order a minimum of 1000 l at a time. This last time, when we had all the problems with the price, we told them we were ordering 500 l and he gave in in the end. I can't see why it would make a difference ordering in the summer seing as the price always seem to be fluctuating at all different times of year anyway (its not like wood where this IS much cheaper in the summer). Good luck - why not look into changing supplier? Let us know how you get on. Sarah and Mark

Yes - Just been having a look today at the new routes and have seen the new Rimini flight - it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive to the Amandola area, so great for those living up north trying to get to Le Marche. Really hope it operates all year, unlike the East Midlands flight which only ran during July and August this year. Much better than nothing at all.  Thanks Mr O'Leary !

Alan - we haven't been hiding either - just been on holiday. Back now and missing all the fun. For what it is worth, we enjoy the new community and have found everyone to be really helpful (and hopefully we have helped others along the way too). Looking forward to seeing it progress as time goes on and learning more about everyones experiences in Italy.
