Questions Asked

After an abscence I am back with a query. Last summer in the UK I grew two varieties of Courgettes, Tondo and Fiorentina, because of the glut I decided to preserve them in OLive Oil.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. We holiday just outside Lago del Trasimeno and are hoping to buy in that area in the not too distant future - although the horizon seems still as far away as ever.   Brian

Thank you for that link - very useful indeed- I now work at my lap top and listen in - hopefully getting the jist of it all. The though that the person speaking is actually in a clmate that is human friendly is very comforting!!

Friends of mine went to Italy for the first time a couple of years ago and they did not speak Italian, they asked for some advice so we just told them to get them selves a phrase book and jump in. There wasn't enough time to get to some classes and they were staying in a fairly remote villa. On their return we asked them how they got on and they said that they had had a fabulous time and that the Italians were very friendly and appreciated their efforts. They told of one occasion when an Italian speaking non-Italian was in a shop addressing the shop keeper in a rather condecsending way and they received far better service with their halting and very basic Italian than did this other person. The result is that they will be going back to Italy and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

I once read that holding an Italian property through a limited company registered in the UK would mean that at death the inheitance issues would surround the shares and not the property. is this correct? I realise that there would probably be other drawbacks to this particular suggestion.

Consider travelling across UK to Hull for Zeebrugge rather than the delightful drive through the motorway system involving the M6 and the M25. The M62 will take you right there.

I love to cook very slowly, in UK I have a cast iron range, which is wonderful and I would deifintely need one when in Italy. My favourite is to take a joint of lamb, red wine and rosemary cover and let it cook at low levels for 24 hours. Sometimes adding some Lonza di Fico just to melt into the gravy. The gravy is cooked afterwards wiht the addition of some red wine and some redcurrant jelly together wiht thickening agent.
