Thanks Penny and everyone, even though most of you went completely off the subject, which was about Residency and 'work' and not how many of you are 'Pensioners' which is a completely different 'Ball Game'

Thanks everyone for all the contributions. It all seems to still be a bit of a grey area, as the so called EU Bureaucrat's have not really lined everyone up and each country still wants to do it's own thing. I'm being paid in the UK and paying NI etc, so am going to deregister here.

Sorry 'Kensington2', not sure where your Italian friends have got their information, it does not work like that here in Italy......Can't get as much work, so put the prices up to acheive what they were earning before. Just like the Restaurants! The Italians do exactly the same with House prices, house not selling.......put the price up! They think differently to us, lack of competition and no toe treading. good luck

Are there such things here as Removal firms, I've never seen any or their Lorries driving around. The Italians just seem to leave everything in the house when they sell it!

i agree with everything adriatica has said! i did most of my own reconstruction in the end, except for the external walls. the architects and geometra's all charge way over the top and rarely tell you about the little extras like 1-3% for their professional association. They price everything separately. If you can rather than a percentage of the job try and agree a figure to oversee the job, as their fee of 12% is rediculous when combined with 7% for a geometra to which they will be tied up with. good Luck

I agree with alot that has been said by the previous posts. While i agree that there lots of British people not prepared to work period, and are quite happy to live of benefits, there are also a lot of people who used to do these so called 'jobs the Brits are not prepared to do" like picking fruit & Veg in Norfolk. the problem was that with the cost of living, inflation, loosing their 'tied' accommodation etc could not continue to earn enough to live. I have a Brother-in-law who did exactly that, but changed his job to a warehouse. The farm jobs are then vacant and to the immigrants £3hr seems good by the standards in their country, the farmers are also happy. Now a lot of the originl immigrants such as the Polish have and are going back because the went into the EU and things are looking better at home.....thats great, but with higher standards, inflation and the free market they will start complaining that they need to earn more to pay for their better life, which is exactly why we cant afford to work for £3hr........back to square one!
