I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).

I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.

It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?

Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?

I look forward to anything that might move things forward, I get REALLY irritated by inconsistency and whilst have been financially 'screwed' on a number of occasions whilst living here primarily due to my poor Italiano lingua, and lack of understanding of the 'rules, or at least 'their' individualistic interpretation of them ! We MUST keep onto 'them' as THEY are acting in effect illegally !!Well done Penny................a star!!

Sebastiano......................Thanks ever so much for a very honest 'rant'........................Whilst I do not run a business, I am a bit of a newby here and am astonished at prices, I am going back to the UK in a few months for a break and will be interested to see prices there.Car insurance costs are bordering on criminal, absolutely outrageous!...3rd party only is much more expensive than fully comp in the UK!I do feel at times that the prices in supermarkets tend to reflect the habits of the foreigner, how much (if you buy it!) would you expect to pay for 100g of Nescafe instant coffee ?? 4.35euros at our local supermarket, Schweppes Tonic Water (1 litre) 1.38euros........................where are our MEPs !!!???European Union my A**e!!! S

Sad sad sad................We lived in Durham for a while (Nevilles Cross?), and loved it, it makes you wonder, where did 'my' age group ((JUST!!! 60+) go wrong, how can we ever put things right again?I'm not one for the gently gently  'let's talk about things' over approach.................I'm more a 'make sure they'd NEVER want to do that again' type. Sorry if that isn't PC or whatever...............but what should the 'good upstanding, law abiding' person do !!Seriously good luck in your 'recovery',Best regards,S

Whilst I agree with your sentiments I find them (slightly!) harsh............we are all trying to enjoy our lives here and I for one will try to administer a more acceptable deterrent, Gromit has had some very good ideas!I dearly want to embrace the habitat here, I love to see the deer, cinghiale, golden orioles, redstarts, buzzards, swallows dipping in the poll etc etc..................but I have to sleep to help me help to them (if you know what I mean?)S

Great ideas Gromit..................seems a good line of 'defence'.................I'll let you know over the next week or so,CheersS

Maralyn...................Deary deary me....this type of 'animal' that you are suffering with, if they did break their legs when falling, will be well looked after through the state benefits system, (one of the many reasons why I am here !)....................I am still paying taxes to help these poor souls (HA!)..............................Like you, I would be looking for a shotgun of some sort !.Luckily for me I only have poor animali that have not used the UK education system to gain their knowledge (HA! again!!)The very best of luck with shooting the bustards!!!By the way where in the (UK?) is your attack ?S

Mon, 08/17/2009 - 08:53

Thanks Gromit................I'm actually not interested in poison or anything like this, I am not sure which organisation I speak to about them(if any!)Thanks again,S

Folks,Thanks for the comments, I now have found out that they are apparently 'European Pine Martens'. I probably need to persuade them to go 'somewhere else', as they are indeed dislodging the cotti tiles, only the odd two or three, but my gosh they sound VERY loud when they tweak these tiles in the middle of the night !I assume they are looking for insects? At this stage poison seems a little more than I want to do, any other ideas?Cheers,S

Answer to: Car Insurance

I have been 'stung' (financially!).................MY fault I know!!............... Car AND House insurance............if you are thinking of changing insurers..................Insurers in Italy normally require that you physically CANCEL in writing up to 2 months before the expiry date of your (typically) yearly contract, otherwise you are likely to have agreed to be contracted to pay the following year (something like para 47, clause 63, sub clause 82 hidden in the all Italian phrase contract!!). And one of mine didn't even write me a reminder until 1 month after expiry...................(the word 'sharks' springs to mind which is sad!)S

Thanks Ronald...............I have 'sensored' my confusions (assuming it was me !)............sometimes I want to actually reply to the original posting, not necessarily the replies to the original,CheersS
