Questions Asked

Given that several of us have businesses related to Italy, does anyone want to put reciprocal links on their websites, ie I put a link on mine to your website and vice versa?

I need to buy a flip chart and a printer to be delivered to my house in Italy. Has anyone got any experience of ordering online? How reliable is delivery? Anyone bought from Euronics online? All advice gratefully received Salutoni

Thought it was about time I got round to introducing myself, as I've been posting replies for a month or two.I admit to a lifetime's love-hate relationship with Italy and all things Italian.

Having just joined the community and recently bought a house in Abruzzo, I was just wondering how all of you living in Italy started learning Italian once you got to Italy and whether you are still taking classes or what you have found to help you

Hi I used to work on Italian emigration when I was a university teacher of Italian. I'm now starting work on a history of emigration from the village I've bought a house in. I've come across a number of sites but they're in Italian. However try: www.abruzzoforum.com which has a genealogy section. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find it fascinating. Best wishes

Thanks for trying for more info, Alma. I'm not often in places with big toy shops, but I'll do an online search anyway. Salutoni

Such joy! I can play the quiz again - like watching paint dry on a bad day....  Thanks v much John & Toni. It wouldn't have occurred to me that it had changed 'label'. Salutoni

Thanks Alma and Ram. I'm wondering if the original board games have been eclipsed by electronic versions. If you wouldn't mind, Alma, could you ask where your Italian group leader got them from please? I'm going to Italy next week and it would save me time if I had a shop to aim for. I was really enjoying Chi vuole essere milionario on TV till Canale 5 became a scrambled channel, so it started me thinking about board games. Many thanks

There's a magazine called Oggitalia from www.elimagazines.com which has a selection of articles from a range of Italian papers and magazines and there is a CD which has some of the articles in audio too. You take out an annual subscription (which I think is about £15 for UK delivery, website will say for delivery elsewhere I guess). Elimagazines also have other Italian language learning mags, though lower levels are more geared to teenagers. You can get a lot out of them though. Salutoni a tutti

I've just caught up with this thread and thought I'd let you know I very successfully used my LG Renoir phone as a modem on my pay as you go Vodafone Italia SIM card for one euro a day this summer. I was only charged when I went on line and could get up to 500MB per day. I could even go on line several times in the one day and it cost me no more. The beauty of it was I couldn't run up a huge bill because it was PAYG. It was a summer offer, but the website seems to suggest it's 2 euros a day now, so it's still pretty good and no dongle/modem stick needed.I wish I could do the same in the UK... Salutoni
