If anyone is looking for a reliable, honest and hardworking guy to do any building, decorating or general renovation work in the south-west Umbria region (Citta Della Pieve), I know just the man.  His work is good and his charges are reasonable. P

Travelling from Reims to Parrano, Umbria.  Can anyone advise the best, shortest & cheapest route with minimal use of toll roads through France etc, accepting that we will use the autostrade through Italy. Thanks.

I pay ENEL by DD and also registered with them on-line.  I get an email from them advising me what the payment will be and when it will be requested, then a further email advising that the bill has been paid.  I am happy despite the bank charges as is gives me the peace of mind that nothing will be cut off when I am not there to pay the bills (Gas & Water by DD too).  I still get a paper copy of the bill sent to the house in Italy, so have a paper record as well.

Expensive?  All my radiators are cast iron, I love them & understand they are a lot more efficient than modern panel radiators, but a few of them are a little rusty around the edges, hence the query.

Sorry to dig up this old chestnut again folks, but I am trying to calculate my IMU for this year and have already found loads of information from previous posts and have downloaded all the forms etc.  However, what is slightly confusing me is the Rendita Catastrale.  So, a few very simple (surely?!) questions from an ignoramus! From my deed and I have confirmed the accuracy on the Agenzia Entrate web site, I have for the property building (Cat A/4, Classe 2, 3,5 vani) a sum.....  say €100. Then, as I have land... (Semi Arbor, Classe 2), I have two further amounts....  Reddito Dominicale... say €4, and Reddito Agraio.... say €3. Queries: Do I add all three amounts together to give me the full Catastrale Value to enter onto the IMU calculation to give me a R C of say... €107? Just some terminology if someone would be good enough to clarify please....  Cat A/4, Classe 2, 3,5 vani etc? Semi Arbor / Classe 2? Then the split for the land.... Reddito Dominicale & Reddito Agraio & what are the implications?   I wish to put a wooden shed on the land and have some sort of barbeque area with a pergola etc? Do I need to have 'permission to do this as they will not be permanent structures?  I also need to disguise the hideous new bombolone & fence installation with some planting...  I know I can't plant trees, but a few high growing shrubs would help to improve this present eyesore....  How strictly do you have to comply with the species given in the deed for your zone (RE-1/RP-1/2)? As usual I have had conflicting advice!

laugh....  Not just cost as I have offered to pay half...  trying to find a vet a problem in my area and then it's the whole issue of Italian masculinity!!!  "You can't cut his balls off even they are brother & sister"!!!   Grrrrrrrrrrr.

A wonderful story...  well done you! If I ever do reside in Italy permanently, a rescue dog will be a must have!  For the present, I make do with my neighbours cats who reside on my terrace whenever I go as i feed them proper cat food, not just bread & pasta!  Wish I could persuade their owners to neuter them, but that's another topic!

As a fellow non- believer, I totally agree...  And.. re the 'other' matter...  Gala, as usual you talk a lot of sense and clarify a number of issues that those of us who are not so well read and just have opinions based on media headlines, do not fully understand.  Thank you!

Apologies Gala,  I have no wish to start a whole new issue, which as you say, is not Italy related only as far as the New Pope is concerned.  I hope everyone on the forum is sensible and this does not expand into another heated discussion! You make a good argument, I have an Argentinian sister-in law...  However, the vote by the population went to the UK.  Like you I hope sanity prevails....
