Opera Verona, 2011

At the opera;-

• Dress casually
• take a large picnic - be prepared to share/swap with others there
• take wine - not soft drinks - and plenty of it
• sing along - everyone does [except the posh twits]
• take a cushion to sit on
• take warm clothes - it can get chilly at night
• take a waterproof - if its raining, and cancelled you get a refund AS Long As You Are Still In the Ampitheatre [my mate was there when they cancelled at 2200hrs - after most had gone home]
• ENJOY yourself

Go for the big spectacular operas, Aida or Nabucco. I really cannot see Traviata or Bohème working on the huge stage: a garret 50m  x 30m??

On no account, attempt to whistle along to a well known aria.

Totally agree with the previous posts, however I would add re the supply of wine, decant into plastic bottles beforehand. When we last went, all glass bottles (and contents) were confiscated - only plastic bottles were allowed.
