Healthcare in Puglia

We’ve been living in Puglia for 14 months, have our residency and have registered with the health authority. So, we have our Tessera Sanitaria for the next 5 years and a local GP. As my wife has recently had her 60th birthday – receiving a UK state pension - we are now trying to establish how this affects the cost of certain medical services. ( – e.g X-rays, ECG, blood tests, prescriptions, etc). We’ve had a look at the guidelines in the official publications printed by the Italian government and read a number of other articles but (surprise!!) the situation is not that clear. Any information anyone can provide on this topic would be gratefully received.

Sure would appreciate some comments on this as we're looking at moving there for 2 - 3 years, and perhaps retiring there.

may I suggest you do a search on this site. Much has been written in the past regarding health care . Try some key words, health, care, pensions brings up previous posts. Also check out previous thread on perscription charges. Happy hunting!

I should have thought that the people who can tell you are the Dept for Work and Pensions in the UK. I also suggest looking through posts on this site.
