Some big names in fashion and entrepreneurship have gotten together to form the non-profit association “Patrons of the Galleria Borghese,” to support and enhance one of Rome’s most important cultural institution, the Galleria Borghese, which houses the amazing art collection amassed by Cardinal Scipione, a member of the Borghese family and a patron of the arts (he was the patron of Caravaggio and Bernini among others). Scipione built the Villa Borghese to house his collection.

The association is chaired by Maite Bulgari, who is also one of the founding members. She explains the project is intended to develop, promote and carry out studies on the works in the gallery, to work on their preservation with the use of advanced information technology research, to organize courses and seminars, as well as events and meetings of scientific and cultural interest. “The project that is closer to our heart is the realization of the first great center of Caravaggio's studies. The Borghese gallery has the largest number of his works, and his most important. This initiative will make the gallery the international point of reference for everything concerning the great Lombard artist."

Among the founding members are Silvia Venturini Fendi, Miuccia Prada, Jacaranda Caracciolo, Maite Bulgari, Marino and Paola Golinelli, Walter Mainetti and Fabio Salini.
