Lap Dancers expose counterfeiters

Lap dancers exposed an Italian counterfeiting ring by spotting the fake money amid the wads of cash pushed into their panties, police said Wednesday.

According to the police, the fake 20 and 100 euro notes made by a young graphic designer and an ex-Nasa engineer in this northern Italian town were ''virtually indistinguishable'' from legal tender.

Only the lap dancers and prostitutes frequented by some of the gang were apparently able to tell them apart.

Wednesday's operation, codenamed Catch Me If You Can after the Leonardo Di Caprio film about legendary conman and forger Frank Abagnale Jr, was the first time a large-scale counterfeiting operation had been found outside the Naples area, police said.
