Travellers love Italian cities more than any others in the world according to the world’s largest travel site TripAdvisor. Italy has three cities in the TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Travelers’ Choice World Destinations Awards, more than any other country. All three cities in the TripAdvisor rankings make it into the top ten. Rome is ranked fourth, although it fell one place from its position in 2012. Venice enters the list for the first time in sixth place. Florence ranks eighth and has climbed from 12th place in the 2012 rankings. The Italian capital was beaten into fourth place by Paris, New York City and London, which were ranked in first, second and third places respectively. The Travelers’ Choice Destinations Awards honour top travel spots worldwide based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers. Award winners were determined based on the popularity of destinations, taking into account travellers’ favourites and most highly rated places. The fifth annual awards recognises 412 outstanding destinations in 38 markets across the globe, including lists for Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Central America, China, Europe, India, Mexico, the Middle East, South America, the South Pacific and the USA.
