Italian Business Woman to be Honoured in Washington D.C.

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has selected the honourees who will be recognized at the organization’s gala on the 29th of October 2011.

Emma Marcegaglia, president of Confindustria and CEO of Marcegalglia S.p.A., will receive the NIAF Special Achievement Award in Women’s Leadership.

Marcegaglia is the first woman to ever hold the president position at Confindustria, a trade organization that represents 146,046 manufacturing and service companies which boast more than 5 million employees.

Dubbed the “Steel Lady” for her additional role at the helm of the family business- Marcegalglia S.p.A., which specializes in the manufacture and distribution of steel products.

An internationally recognized business woman, Emma Marcegaglia will be joined by fellow NIAF honourees such as business man Claudio Bozzo, Italian industrialist Paolo Scudieri, and fashion powerhouse Santo Versace.

Italian President Giorgio Napolitano has been invited to join high ranking American politicians at the event in Washington D.C.
