Mugello hosts Ferrari Challenge finals

The 2008 Ferrari Challenge series winds up at the weekend at the at the Tuscan Mugello circuit WITH the world finals for the three regional championships as well as the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge final.

The five-day event began with free practice trials on Wednesday and Thursday while on Friday and Saturday the final races will be staged for the three Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy series - Italian, European and American.

On Sunday there will be the traditional race between participants from all three series who will compete to determine who will be world champion.

Sunday will also see the crowd-pleasing Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge final.

The day will wind up with a demonstration by the Formula 1 Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team, which again this year won the constructors' championship.

Spectators will then be treated to a show by the F430 GT2 cars which won the 2008 FIA GT Championship as well as this year's Le Mans 24 hours race.

The world finals will also be an opportunity for fans to see the prototypes of the exclusive FXX programme out on the track.

The prize ceremony for the challenge series will take place at a gala dinner this winter.

The Ferrari Challenge series, now in its 16th year, was created for private owners of the Italian sports cars to test their skills against each other on the track.

Races for the Italian and European Ferrari Challenge often coincide with those for the Grand Turismo (GT) championship.
