no notifications

Hi, i'm not getting email notifications when someone replies to my posts or sends me a private message, people must think i'm rude when i don't reply to them in reasonable time. i'm not currently a massive user here but am about to hopefully inherit a property in italy and may need to ask some questions on this community. could someone please help me to see if i have settings right in my account? thanks alex
