car insurance

Hi,We want to live in the uk for 9 months of the year but have kept a property in Italy. We have already been living in england for 3 months and will soon return to italy for only a few weeks.We are still registered as living in italy as far as the italianj authorities go.We have a car in italy insured and we would like to import it to the uk.My question is would our insurance cover us for bringing the car to the uk? We don't want to be in a position to lieabout where we reside but i cannot see any other option than to drive this car on italian insurance till i get it to the garage / registered in uk.Obviously the italian insurer still has the italy address on their system.I know this is a grey area for the authorities and there does not seem to be set policy especially here in the uk regarding foreign registered vehicles.thanks
