from about october to may each morning i turn on the TV and over coffee watch news and weather... especialley the long range weather.... come May... i get so bored with the weather forecasts that i skip them until i go out one day and find that in the evening im shivering.... its one of the things that you just get to love when you live here...the certainty that when the hot weather arrives ...each day will be the same... for months...   its heaven

lowering the tone even further... if you ever watch the channel four news in the evening... my favourite news person emilio (with the wonderful hair and wholes in the knees of his impeccable suits) due to kneeling infront of the status of mr b as he makes up the news... manages to employ the strangest and often most inept weather girls ever...however yes... i did notice...  and it could be because before the summer really got going seaside towns here were furious with the airforce weather people that generally do the meteo on the RAI channels because every weekend that was a long weekend they predicted bad weather...and each time it was sunny and warm...costing tourist resorts millions...having lived in France for a fair time they resolved this problem by having a map of france just before any spring autumn long weekend plastered with sun symbols ... always predicting wonderful weather and thus saved themselves any unified complaints fro tourist operators.... much better to employ a person with no brain and unable to read the cue cards ....  however i am learning a lot from her meteo terminology definitions...   "clouds.... those little white things in the sky... or wind..... the air that moves past you"

when i first watched it ... your observation would have been not far wrong... no graphics just tons of fronts...lining up for battle...with numbers showing pressure... ok there is the other extreme... lots of pictures and few facts... in reallity apart from summer have a deal of sympathy...Italy has such a variety of local climates with its hilly terrain and mass of sea water surrounding it...that a national weather forecast by definition here where national weather does not exist to any great degree is a bit of a joke... however local forecast do manage quite well... that is what you see when you look out the window each morning... here if the clouds of a certain type are covering the mountain we are ok... if they are blowing in from the marche...another story.. i can leave home here and drive *KM to Teramo and in the summer find that 33c has risen to almost 40c with high humidity ...or in the winter leave here ...dont think we have ever had afrost... and Teramo cars are all ice white...
