Yesterday, lounging in our rural setting near Penna San Giovanni, I noticed a cat down near some trees. Firstly I was surprised at the size of it, then I noticed that it didn't seem to have a tail, it had sticky up (pointed) ears and had

Joy, Thanks for your kind advice.....however as I said............. 'whilst I think we should have all angles discussed and debated, to go on and on and on about doom and gloom eventually gets a bit depressing.' I do not see this as burying my head in the sand ! Rather, it suggests that I have been reading (and participating in) most threads regardless of their nature ? Thanks again, S

I do believe you are correct. I'm quite pleased if it is true as, whilst I think we should have all angles discussed and debated, to go on and on and on about doom and gloom eventually gets a bit depressing. I'm sure that there are lots of good news stories around as well. S

As I recall, I just left the original uploads running whilst we went for lunch, and when I next looked, they were done (it was hours later). I know my upload speed is something like .2mb (great eh ! surprise ), but as I mentioned, my need is leaning heavily towards downloading. Re satellite.............the latency can certainly be a problem, and the other thing that I have seen in our village is severe restrictions on download data volumes, making them very impractical for me (oh and very costly!). S

I thought it was always the case that they had to finalise the adjusted rate by 30th Sept? Ours finalised theirs on about the 19th June......up to .6% (for residents)..............I do not know the non resident rate(poss .96%? without the €200 reduction). Re the sanzioni...............I would think maybe 10% of the amount that you should have paid ? S

Judecas..............agreed, upload speed is very poor, and as a business user one may well need to do more uploading, I think for the private user, the upload is mainly for packet information purposes...............although, I do have all my data, photos and music backed up onto two seperate 'clouds' which sync every week. The initial uploads were (as you say) SLOW. S

I'm getting more practise in the garden in case they call on my help...surprise.........I often see the anzioni walking up to the village (probably in their mid 70s) to meet their parents !............mind you, I'm not far behind them (in age). It is a problem for sure. S

As others have said it depends where you are...........we live in a little hilltop village in Le Marche and it has broadband and wi-fi (which I use)............we receive a VERY stable 4mb connection which allows us to do anything and everything that we need - streaming, downloading.... pretty much everything ! S

Well............I hear that some people are saying that Dec 12th is doomsday ! so I wouldn't get too much stock in just yet! The may only be testing though if you think about it........... 12 12 12 !! S

I have to say Fillide (if you still have a peak !)...........your posts have been invaluable to me and no doubt many others over the years, I have taken the odd bit of criticism (undeserved in my view !) from other long standing members when raising the suggestion of any problems on this site.........BUT.... There are occasions when I think the site has gone to sleep, but always it bounces back and acts as normal. I agree that it would be good to be able to have some interaction with the moderators or whoever 'they' are, but 'they' seem reluctant to come on board. Regarding technical issues...............I have to say that I do not see or experience (pretty much) any at all? Could you maybe make us aware of what specific issues you have (maybe pm me or others?), we may be able to help ? Good luck whichever way you decide to go and thanks again for your input, S
