Ty folks, Sagraisolar, roughly what would solar would cost to instal and run? To be honest unless using a timer on an electric immersion, then the sansa boiler on 45 mins in the morning (water stays hot all day) is cheaper... Saying that it's a lot more work .....  :)

... we now know from one electrician who has looked at the place in a little more detail that most of the upstairs is wired ok, with earth and almost up to standard (front plates are metal). So downstairs apart (which he said is most definitely unsafe) we only need the front plates updating, 2 rooms rewired and a new separate cooker supply...  Awaiting a quote from the builder this guy works for....

... in with the sansa boiler i.e. be an alternative feed to it? No doubt you can tell, we know little about either.... :) I think we do already have a scaldabangno in the dungeon bathroom downstairs… but would not send anyone in there at present... I doubt if it's 120L,so it may not be of much use... But it is currently near the boiler (next room), so might enable the installation of a new one if they are the best way forward... Water pressure is nothing like what we are used to in Italy and quite exceptionally weak for over there.... We have been recommended to contact ACA about it, but not got around to that as yet. Ty very much Fillide for the post, that's one for the list to look at, have seen these in the shops, so will have a closer look at prices etc now...

...  ok, but improved NO! Only worked in IT for 30 years... application design, so don't know too much... But the previous forum was not brill, but it was 10x better then this... Still got to say I'm more than pleased at the help I have had from lots of people on here...Is that not the purpose of it? Would facebook or the like not be better for simple social banter?   :)

... now know more detail and we have 17 sockets and 17 switches to rewire and update sockets and switches. From what we can see the in place 2 core (looks like 5 amp throughtout) is in plastic conduit with access points... We would need new untis for upstairs and down and are looking for quotes from any electrician in the Abruzzo area...
