So the first Pope to stand down; blames it on poor health (in mind and body) .... so nothing to do with the financial scandal about to hit then?

Especially for all those who would rather have a dig at each other, or feign disdain for people they don't know from Adam. Please feel free to continue the petty squabbles here; I've even given you a special place to fling shite at each other so yo

A very interesting but disturbing article, how many other Italian cities could follow, we all know it's bad here.

I think I need to get this off my chest, as it bugs me no end on this Forum/Community site. Now we all agree that this site exists for primarily the English speaking Ex-Pat community right; and by English speaking I mean just that not differing to

Argentina wasn't fussed about the Falklands when it was just a barren Rock with a few Whalers, Farmers and Penguins on it; now there is Oil/Gas and other possible minerals within it's territory it seems to have renewed interest in it. Personally as I lost a family member in the War there, I would rather the Pope keep his nose out of matters which are not his concern or remit.

Maggi, in Italy car insurance is slightly different to the UK, where the car is insured and people (I think over 25) are allowed to drive with the owners permission. I think this only gives you basic 3rd party insurance, so you may have to look into your own policy to cover you for excess etc.

Give up guys, you must know by now that Gala always has the last word and of course is always correct. LMFAO.

P.S. Gala please change that awful avatar of yourself, it reminds me of a bulldog licking pee of a nettle.......

Gala I have never been a member (which I have stressed before) of the 'Old' Forum (or another Forum to which you allude to regularly), Admin can confirm this if you ask; but this is precisely what I'm talking about, yet again you make wild accusations, which I am quite frankly sick of, against someone who YOU dislike and does not toady to you. Your xenophobic, reaction to what I say, is frankly appalling, yet you continue to deride myself and any others who hold opposing views; I for one am fed up with your Fascist outbursts.

I think It's about time that Gala started her own forum, where she can 'agree/disapprove/condone/admonish/lecture/pontificate with whoever she wishes. It seems 'she' is the only one who is right, has the correct insight, knows everyone in a position of influence; in fact is so up herself that she rides roughshod over every other members views or opinions.  In my opinion, Gala, you are a very insecure (constantly referring to Bogeyman Sects who are out to disrupt 'Your' Forum) opinionated woman who should be pitied, who feels the need to be seen as the only person to have a correct perspective.

'ROMA - Papa Francesco è arrivato pochi minuti dopo le 8 a Santa Maria Maggiore, una delle principali basiliche della capitale. Si è trattenuto in preghiera per circa mezz'ora. E' stata la prima uscita di Papa Bergoglio, avvenuta a distanza di sole poche ore dalla sua elezione.' This is just one article Gala (La Repubblica) and there are many more that refer to him as that (Francisus being Latin), so why don't you ask your buddies what he likes to be called as you're so chummy with them. He will be remembered as the first when he's gone and then only when another Francesco is appointed (same as happens in the  system of British Monarchy) so our Priest was saying today. What do Colonists know? wink

Thu, 03/14/2013 - 06:33

Well Gala, all the media over here and the Cardinals on TV refered to him as just Papa Francesco (not the first or Franciscus as Rikardo says), so if you know better than them....?

As Robbie said; DO expect trouble at the Pet Control at Calais. Besides it all being manned by French Ars*holes, who's sole purpose seems to be disrupt/upset/annoy people traveling back to the UK with dogs. Unless every detail of your Pet Passport is squeaky clean, with every signature, date and stamp perfectly legible they will find a problem with it and either make you wait, say you have to get faxed clarification from your local vet who carried out the procedures (obviously difficult if you are there out of hours) or find some other lame excuse to be objectionable and annoying. I have witnessed this several times ourselves and have also been subjected to it as well as they were going to prevent one of our Labs going through all though the paperwork is identical to his brother who they said was OK. As a tip if anything like this happens, start crying (difficult if you're a male) and demand to see the 'Supervisor', this did the trick fro us and and another friend of ours. We now no longer take the dogs back to the UK and they stay with our daughter heer in Italy if we go back. Good luck and be prepared.
