I was looking for some new (old) traditional dining chairs. Both Ikea and Marino Fa Mercato do traditional -looking rush-seated chairs very cheaply. But are there any artisan or local craftsmen who make this type of chair in Tuscany/Umbria???

Are there any particular regulations for making available your house for holiday rentals? Like many, I guess, we'd like to start offering the house from next year (2013) and I wanted to prepare for that.

Interior design styleObviously much depends on the style that you are seeking - if you are loohing for something that might go into Elle Decoration then I suggest you go to Sestini e Corti at Bettolle.  They started in 'recupero' - architectural salvage - but now have their own range of furniture and have worked on decoration projects for bars, restaurants and private houses.www.sestiniecorti.it > arredo > internoPaolo and Jacopo are both charming and very imaginative.

Maybe Radio MARIA?When driving I've often become fed up with the trashy pop stations.  Radio Maria is a Catholic broadcasting station on I think FM 104.3 - usually there's a calming Catholic priest with an anxious penitent dialling in but generally they speak quite slowly and good for some language practice.  Good on love and devotion. Not as good on domestic building works or car hire.

Arezzo antiques marketif you get the opportunity, please do go to the Arezzo antiques fair - it has 100's of stalls of antiques and bric-a-brac covering the whole city and you can purchase many furnishings - some very expensive but many very good prices as well for authentic old items. It''s very good for lighting, door furniture, shelves, mirrors and pictures. The fair is the first Sunday of every month (and the Saturday the day before). http://www.seeyouintuscany.com/tuscany_travel_guide/arezzo_area/arezzo/antiques_market/antiques_market.html As gala mentioned, a good idea is to mix up some olde pieces with newer pieces to avoid the uniformity of a house totally furnished from Ikea.good luck

Val d"Orcia?A visit to La Foce followed by a bathe at Bagno Vignoni either at the Adler Spa Thermae (expensive but luxurious) or the outdoor pools at the Hotel Posta Marcucci.  Lovely restaurants in the village there too...

This person I once met - well really it was a friend of his - said that finding out about cities beginning with vowels in Italy was much more difficult than those beginning with consonants.  So maybe that's the problem with the letter 'A".  'B" and 'G" are much easier. It could be that's it's because it's very mountainous around Mt Etna.Apparently, it's the other way round in Spain.  Sorry can't be of more assistance.
