SAL - what does it mean?

As the title says -  What do the initials 'SAL' mean, when you get a 'fattura' from a construction company with a 'SAL' attached itemising work that might or might not have been completed at that time.  Is it simply a staged payment, or an acceptance that the items listed are completed satisfactorily?  A literal translation of the letters would help, if anyone knows.Ta

This is the equivalent to a UK "valuation" or stage payment. It should not, subject to what your contract may say, imply any acceptance. You should normally have a % retention (5%?) which you hold until you are satisfied all the works are completed to your satisfaction
