Hello All,New to the site and also to owning a tiny house in Villa di Tresana in the Lunigiana. Are there any groups for walkers (more Ramblers than mountaineers) operating in the area? I shall be visiting at the end of September........And on a more practical level is it really safe to use the table top twin ring bottled gas burner that i have inherited with the house? Everything seems in order and well cared for .....it just looks a bit unnerving to a Brit. Thanks

Villa is a lovely spot. Sometimes we go that way from our area when we want to go to Aulla. It is a very scenic route up over the mountain from Calice al Cornoviglio , just inside the Ligurian border in the Val di Vara ,and down   through Villa and Tresana. There are fabulous sea views from the top. We will be there from 16th Sept to 6th October, apart from a few days in the Chianti Hills. If you like walking, the Ligurian Way goes along the top and there are lots of footpaths on our side. When we first bought our house we inherited an old gas cooker and gas bottle which we used for a couple of years, although we checked the seal on the bottle. Heiko also knows Villa well and works on some land there. He also is part of a group that go walking in Lunigiana so maybe you could contact him in the forum.Hope you enjoy your new house (I'm sure you will).ciaopam

Thanks PamYou must drop in for a coffee on your way through to Aulla, I may even be brave enough to get to grips with the gas rings by October!I notice we are (fairly) near neighbours in the UK too - I am in Southwell ,Nottinghamshire.CiaoSue

As Alma said, we are regularly in Villa, looking after a plot of land for an absent landlord.  Looks like I may soon be coming that way even more often.  We have lived just above Santo Stefano.  Love the wee Trattoria in Villa.  Friendly service and good value food.   Ask the padrone for his homemade liqueurs! There is a networking group for the Lunigiana and someone recently started a walking group within it.  She was going to start up some more walks in the autumn when it's not so hot.  Get yourselves logged in on www.ourlunigiana.com for any info on the local expat community.
