Italian weddings are on the decline, but an Indian heiress has had the Bollywood wedding of a lifetime- held right in Venice.

The daughter of Indian iron magnate Pramod Agarwal, was married at the San Clemente Palace Hotel & Resort during a 72 hour celebration.

The bride and groom became man and wife after six months of planning. The ceremony required a staff of 500 to take care of all the over-the-top details for the 800 guests in attendance.

The wedding was a mix of Italian luxury and Hindu tradition, featuring everything from 50 flower entwined Murano glass chandeliers to two golden elephant statues and a blimp.

The groom arrived on horseback, followed by family and friends. The bride, wrapped in layers of veils joined him to exchange wreaths of flowers and vows of marriage.

After the ceremony, guests dined on vegetarian treats catered by Venice’s famous Harry’s Bar, were treated to a concert. Shakira was flown into Venice for a special 45-minute performance.

It took a team of Venetian designers, florists and tailors but no expense was spared. Fortunately Agarwal, who owns several mines in Brazil, was easily able to foot the 20 million euro bill.
