Three Christmas events in Italy

| Tue, 11/02/2010 - 12:03

Christmas is coming and here are three events to enjoy in three different cities.

Florence Noel

4th – 12th December 2010
The Stazione Leopolda will again be hosting a truly magical Christmas event this December. From 4th – 12th December, you can visit Father Christmas’s own house and both young and old will have a chance to meet Santa himself. There will be a “Punto letterine” where children can sit and write their letters to Santa and then they can post these in a special post office manned by elves. These particular elves are rather technologically advanced so they will make sure that Santa gets the letters quickly!

There will be a Christmas market on the site where you will be able to buy handcrafted objects, Christmas decorations, food, chocolate, scents and other gifts and there will be a play area for children, too. There will also be an ice-sculpted nativity scene for all to marvel at.

Florence Noel will be open on the following days at these times:
4th – 8th December, 10.00 – 22.00
9th – 10th December, 15.00 – 22.00
11th – 12th December, 10.00 – 22.00

Tickets:
€7.50 and €6.50. See website for reductions and further details.
There is free entrance for children under three.

Natale in… Perugia

4th – 23rd December 2010
The eighteenth edition of “Christmas in Perugia”, Umbria’s most important culinary and artistic fair, will have more exhibitors than ever before this year.

The artistic crafts and main gastronomic sections will be housed in the sixteenth century fortress, the Rocca Paolina but there will also be food and wine stalls in the town’s historic centre. There will be other crafts stalls and exhibitions in the Piazza Italia and craftsmen will construct a small city in the woods.

Entry to the fair is free but you can obtain a Natalein…Card , which, for €5.00 , will entitle you to free samples and discounts on all days of the fair. You can obtain the card from authorised sales points during the fair or from Natale in Perugia website.

Natale in… Perugia runs from 4th – 23rd December, 10.00 – 20.00.

One Hundred Nativity Scenes

Rome, 26th November 2010 – 6th January 2011
Every year the Sala del Bramante in the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome is home to over one hundred nativity scenes ranging from seventeenth century cribs crafted in Naples to contemporary designs.

Despite the title of the exhibition, this year up to two hundred cribs are likely to be on show.

From 29th November to 5th January children aged 3 – 11 will be able to learn how to make crib figurines in a special workshop at the venue. Each child will be able to take his or her work home. The exhibition ticket includes participation in the workshop but you must book to reserve a place.

100 Presepi is at the Sala Del Bramante, piazza del Popolo, from 26th November 2010 – 6th January 2011.
