Three women on the podium of the 62nd edition of Sanremo Music Festival: Emma, Arisa and Noemi.

Emma Marrone, who won the Italian talent show Amici in 2010, is the winner with “Non è l’inferno” written by Kekko leader of the band Modà.

Arisa, who won Sanremo Giovani in 2009 and is one of X Factor 5 's Judges, won second place with La Notte by Giuseppe Anastasi.

Noemi, who was a contestant in X Factor 2, won third place with Sono Solo Parole by Fabrizio Moro.

The winner of Sanremo Giovani is fifteen years old Alessandro Casillo, who was part of the cast of talent show Io Canto as a member of the boy band Gimme Five. He won Sanremo with the song È vero (che ci sei).

Critics say the festival was taken by storm by other talent shows' contestants/winners and question the current voting system which they say favours popularity over the quality of music.

It does not come as a surprise to find out that the Critics Prize Mia Martini did not go to any of the official winners, but to Samuele Bersani's song Un Pallone and to Erica Mou with Nella vasca da bagno del tempo.

This year, Nina Zilli is the artist chosen to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest that will take place next May in Baku, Azerbaigian. The song she sang at the festival in Sanremo is Per Sempre.
