The Milan World Expo does not begin until May 1, 2015, but 2.5 million tickets have already been sold for the Italian pavilion.

"We have the absolute record of any pavilion," Italy's Agriculture Minister Maurizio Martina has said. “And demand in pre-sales shows no signs of falling off."

The 40-million-euro pavilion will showcase Italy’s culinary delights, as well as its cutting-edge technologies in different fields. Organizers have presented the logo for the pavilion, which features budding flowers in the colors of the national flag, red, white and green. The general commissioner of the Italian pavilion Diana Bracco said the flower buds hint at the idea of a plant nursery and bring to mind "the young and their future”.

Italian pavilion sales make up half of the five million tickets already sold for Expo 2015. More than 20 million visitors are expected to visit the 1.1-million-square-meter Expo site. It is hoped the event, which takes place May 1-October 31, 2015, will help revitalize Italy's recession-hit economy.
