Tomato Soup

Submitted by alan h on

Does Tomato soup exist in Italy?

We were feeling a bit under the weather when we went out to Italy 2 weeks ago.

As part of the R&R process, I fancied some soup, and looked around the supermarket.  There were lots of different soups, but I realised that there were no Tomato soups [tins or packets] on sale.

For the rest of the break, whenever I was in the shops I looked for tomato soup. without success.

This was in the North [Piemonte/Lombardia lakes area]

Dogs in Le Marche

Dog people.

I have a house near to the Sibillini National Park and we now have a dog (border collie) who loves his walks.

SE UK no problem ~ but he's been attacked several times off the beaten track near our house in Italy.  We avoid village centres where possible, seeking open land/meadows/woodland.

coffee machines?

Submitted by Amaretto on

My much loved morphy richards espresso machine has died after many years of heavy use. Can anyone recommend a small machine with enough grunt to make good espresso with decent crema? In the past we have tried small Gaggias and weren't too impressed, I don't want one that only takes pods. Having problems finding review sites for Italian models and without tasting the coffee its impossible to know whats bad good or indifferent.
Would love to know if you have a machine that you're pleased with - is it still possible to get decent coffee from a machine under 100€?
Thanks

Newcastle to Rome flights

Submitted by Maralyn on

I am in a bit of a panic because I cannot see any flights this year from Newcastle to Rome by Easyjet.  they still have it as a route on their website but with no flights put up for sale.   I phoned Easyjet and they said I would just have to wait and see whether the route will be used and keep popping online to check.

Does anyone else use this route and do they know of any other way to do get to Rome or Naples from the northeast of England.

Thank you.
