Today (January 3, 2016) I read in a local NYC newspaper that because of the large scale unregulated industrial dumping in and around Naples the water table is poluted with many carcinogenic substances (heavy metals etc.). This, it has been determined, has contributed to the cancers now being discovered in babies becasue it has entered the food system as the vegetables grown for consumption in South Italy receive their water from these sources. Is this accurate? What is being done to remediate this terrible problem for the residents and visitors? The US had a similar issue in the early 1970's (the subject of a famous movie) and the issue was resolved after many deaths. This was the origin of the "superfund sites."Anthony G
