Use the search box - look what I got!

This community is wonderful.  In the last few days since I registered as a new member I have had posts from people giving replies to my earlier questions, and in particular I want to say a public thank you to Lila who sent me a private message giving me the name of an Italian English speaking surveyor,  Very helpful indeed.   Thank you Lila and thank you all.I used the google custom search box on this site to put in Lila's name.  Up came lots and lots of messages from the old site offering advice and friendship to her as a new member from 2007.  These old messages are useful to me as I am buying an apartment close to hers in Bagnone.  Good advice to Lila is good advice for me too.So, new members, remember to use the search box when you have a query.  As well as all the goods hints on this new site, there appears to be a wealth of information buried a little deeper that the right key words can bring to the surface for your own use. What did we do only a few years ago when forums such as this were unthought of?  What do you think?

Or should I say Forii?  I wish I could find more like this for when we head er to other places than Italy.  Tripadvisor is very helpful but this has so much more.

I believe both forums and fora are equally acceptable, Jenta.

Not to be picky Jenta but, According to the Oxford English Dictionary… forum n. (pl. forums) 1) a meeting or medium for an exchange of views. 2) (pl. fora) (in an ancient Roman city) a public square or marketplace used for judicial and other business. Origin ME: from Latin, lit. what is out of doors.

I accept forums and fora are equally acceptable, but PennyAW wasn't sure about using the word "forii", which I think does not exist, so I thought I'd try to be helpful and suggest an alternative.

If I remember rightly, a noun ending with a 'double ii' in the original Latin would indicate a plural of the nominative case, but Anno Domini now makes itself felt I'm afraid ...

Then I beg your pardon, I had not heard of an urban dictionary before now.  Thanks for providing the link, but how acceptable do most people feel the bastardisation of any language really is?

"how acceptable do most people feel the bastardisation of any language really is"     Its a facy of life unfortunately.   [Me - I've never recovered from finding out that people don't use 'octopodes' anymore]
