I vaguely remember reading somewhere about a gizmo that could be plugged in to boost wifi signal within our thick walled Italian homes - I can't remember where and failed to locate under search option as not sure what "title" to search under. Can

4 years into being self-employed and my husband's Accountant announced he should be paying INAIL. Claimed it wouldn't be very much. Just received a demand for €4,903.00 of which €1,700.00 is interest and charges going back to 2008.

It has come to my attention that I may have inadvertently misled in an earlier post. In response to a member asking for recommendations I posted not to bother contacting Michael as I had misunderstood a mail from his office.

Looking for advice/guidance on the above subject. I am planning on purchasing satellite broadband and had hoped that it was possible to use satellite dish also for TV.

Having washed guests' white bedlinen and towels I have found yellow stains (again). Unfortunatley not visible until washed then left with a creamy yellow stain. I think it is caused by the high factor creams.

I have to return a parcel to M & S (their sizing and descriptions are not so accurate recently) and having had to do this once before found it very expensive via the Post Office.  Even splitting parcel into smaller Jiffy bags (our post office

has anyone, full time in Italy, purchased a kindle?  I understand that location affects what you can download and I have been trying to establish if living in Italy would prevent my downloading amazon.co.uk books.  I do not want to be limited to I

We have a very large, old, protected oak tree in our garden.  This year for the first time (or at least first time noticed) it is dropping what appears to be tiny black seeds - the size of a lettuce seed.  If you are close to the tree it sounds li

Still have to reply to ones own post!! Does anyone know of a supplier of flowering shrubs in the AP region of Marche.  We are Ripatransone based but happy to travel 2-3 hours if nothing closer.  Numerous nurseries here on the coast but all seem to supply the same type of plants.  I am a great believer in planting appropriately to soil, climate, altitude etc but cannot believe that the few types of plants I can purchase are the only ones that will survive in this area.  I am not particularly looking for a certain plant, just needing to cover 3/4 of acre with something other than Oleander, Pittosporum, Jasmine, skimmia, rosemary etc.  I love buddlea, lilac, lavatera, choisya, etc etc far to many to list.  I vaguely remember on the old forum someone advising of a supplier and providing a link to a catalogue - can't find it now.  At the time old PC was a little slow (dying!) and thus only saw some pages. Thanks.

Dan Trees husband acquired for his client had narrower trunks but were about 100 years old and thus trunks were very gnarled and interesting.  Assume your trees though thicker trunks are less so.  However having done a lot of research for this client he tells me that you should still get €100-€150 per tree.  Also confirm Col Mustard re now is good time to uproot them and they need heavy pruning.  Good luck. I will ask my husband when he gets back (sourcing turf today) but I am pretty sure that the trees he purchased had narrower trunks.  I have seen them, but from a distance and did not take to much notice.  I will find out size and age and come back to you.  Will also mention to him that you are looking to sell as he may have other clients that would be interested.  Several new gardens on the go at the moment. p.s. good luck with the kennels and cattery.  Nice to have some more animal lovers around.

My husband shopped around for a client who wanted 2 mature Olive trees for his new build holiday home and the best he could find was €600.  Sounds like a lot of money potentially in those trees!  Nurseries seem to dig up trees and wrap the root ball to the diameter of the spread of the tree (having heavily pruned most of the branches) in black, weed suppressing type material.  Trees then seem to survive like this for very long periods of timel.  Certainly we have seen one particular supplier near us who has had the same trees displayed like this for the 4 years we have been here.  Definitely worth establishing prime time to dig up and them "store" them somewhere else on your land until you can find a buyer.

Sorry to start thread and then disappear.  Vodafone mobile broadband giving me grief thus not been able to access The Community for any length of time i.e. kicked off before complete anything urghh..  Satellite research here I come - assuming I can stay on line for long enough. I posted the question as my Commercialista sent an e-mail verebatim to my thread and then promptly announced that the meeting we needed to have had to wait as he had to go away for a few days.  Thus you guys know more than I do at the moment.  Neither I nor the English company I work for are VAT registered so hopefully not too much more work my Commercialista can want me to pay for:-)

We did the same 2 years ago and though no-one has restored either of the other 2 houses past ours both are regularly visited by their owners.  One property benefited from having electricity upgraded/new poles etc (at our expense) when they brought in supply - this property is 200m further down from us and owner visits every other week or so to tend olive trees, picnic in garden etc.  The other property is owned by a surgeon who visits almost daily as he breeds wolves in the grounds (to release to the wild).   Additionally we have 2 farmers that bring their tractors down "our" road to reach their fields.  Obviously they always did this but just used track until we had road made up.  Difficult situation as all these people have always used the old track they just now are able to come even during bad weather when old track was impassable but we do feel it would be fair if they contributed as we need to maintain and add more covering more often than if it was just us using the road.  To add insult to injury the farmer who farms the field behind our house has his water trench run straight towards our driveway opening, he then ploughs very close to the edge of the field, thus every time it rains part of his field is washed onto the road.  We have asked him many times to move his water trench (as have owners of the other 2 properties) and he wants to charge us for the privilege.  I will be interested to hear how you get on, but it seems if road is shared you have to just hope you share it with people prepared to pay as no obligation.  I suspect the people restoring your neighbouring property were never told that you had paid for the road, indeed I suspect the good road was a selling point highlighted by Estate Agents without mentioning contributing for either initial or maintenance costs.  good luck

Hi Billy As he's been in car/van on 3 trips whilst we were moving here and we did it in two days each time stopping at Dijon for the night, he's under the illusion he can do the same.  Have tried explaining not practical as Bike very different to car.  Not that I've ever done more than hop on the back of his off-road bike one afternoon to travel 650m down our road.  He has bought himself a sat nav and spent hours studying route but is a little concerned by the Milan to Marche element of the journey.  Weather is a major issue and he won't set off until we have better weather and good forecast for the whole journey - may end up June:-) I am reluctant to let him do it alone and have pretty much made the decision to go meet him either at Dijon or Calais.  Bike too big to go on the back of dad's Ford Ranger but at least he will have company and someone close by if he needs help.  Mums hey!! Thanks for your best wishes and words of encouragement. Karen

Hello Charlotte  We are resident in Italy but only have an English Will.  Our Will was drafted before we moved to Italy and also before we actually got married.  We were living together when the Will was drafted and the content of the Will in regard to our wishes is still valid.  i.e. on either death everything is left to surviving partner, should we both die at the same time everything is left to my son (from previous marriage).  My husband has no children.  We have no assets in UK, everything is in Italy. Would this Will still be accepted or simply the fact that we have since married necessitate a new Will?  We have not been back to the UK since moving to Italy in 2006, thus not been in a position to sign anything in UK. Thank you.

Hey, you think you've got worries.  My 20 year old son is adamant that he is riding all the way from Cambridgeshire to Le Marche on his motorbike.  And he plans to do it next month.  I won't be sleeping for a very long time. Grandfather very generously bought him a new motorbike when he passed his test at the end of last year but for reasons beyond me he bought it in England.  We live in Italy!!
