4 years into being self-employed and my husband's Accountant announced he should be paying INAIL. Claimed it wouldn't be very much. Just received a demand for €4,903.00 of which €1,700.00 is interest and charges going back to 2008.

It has come to my attention that I may have inadvertently misled in an earlier post. In response to a member asking for recommendations I posted not to bother contacting Michael as I had misunderstood a mail from his office.

Having washed guests' white bedlinen and towels I have found yellow stains (again). Unfortunatley not visible until washed then left with a creamy yellow stain. I think it is caused by the high factor creams.

has anyone, full time in Italy, purchased a kindle?  I understand that location affects what you can download and I have been trying to establish if living in Italy would prevent my downloading amazon.co.uk books.  I do not want to be limited to I

We have a very large, old, protected oak tree in our garden.  This year for the first time (or at least first time noticed) it is dropping what appears to be tiny black seeds - the size of a lettuce seed.  If you are close to the tree it sounds li

We've just had a delivery of 600L and it worked out at 0.735/L inclusive of IVA and discount.  Last winter we used about 1500L and deliveries varied from 400L to 800L (we have to fill up when we have a dry period as tanker can't cope with our road when wet).  Different quanties didn't seem to affect the unit cost and we certainly don't warrant a "heavy usage" type discount.  We are also still within our initial 2 year contract period thus no incentive for them to give us a good price to keep our business.

I know that both of the above do.  I now have contract Vodafone but started off with pay-as-you-go as wanted to make sure signal etc was good.  I believe you get 5 hours per day for €25/month (one option).  I have a friend with TIM so know that is also possible but not sure of available deals.  Would strongly recommend you check which gives you best signal as I can't get TIM and my friend couldn't get Vodafone!

My understanding is that you declare ALL income (wherever earnt) and the double taxation treaty allows for tax already paid in UK so that you do not pay again in Italy.  Thus ISA that is tax free in UK would have tax payable out here!  As already stated the benefit of an ISA is only if you are tax resident in UK and normally liable for tax in UK only.  If resident in Italy and thus also liable for tax in Italy there is no benefit. Going back to the original post - the interest received on savings should have been declared on annual returns along with declaration of tax paid in UK and then there would have been no problem.  It is hiding money and avoiding tax (tax free accounts!!) that is the problem.

We live 650m down a white road which previously had only been used by farmer to access his field and the owner of a semi-derelict property further down who uses the garden in Summer.  Comune would not pay for road repairs, but after much discussion  (and time) eventually agreed to smooth road and spread stones if we paid for materials.  It cost us €2650 for material.  Comune only did basic job, no drainage etc.  and the road is still only passable by 4-wheel drive vehicle when wet.  In fact we have friends who even when dry will not use the road.  We are resident, living here full time.

We agree too.  We lived in countryside in England before moving to Italy and have always felt that humans are the scurge of the planet.  Killing to survive is one thing, killing just so you can dress up like rambo and have a bit of fun is monstrous.  It is totally wrong, in my opinion, that the few should deprive the majority of the wonders of wildlife.  I think we should all be able to see rabbits, hares, fox, deer etc in their natural environment and the sound of birdsong is sadly lacking at this time of year when the boys are out killing everything that moves.  Last year we saw 2 baby badgers on the white road towards our house and it was amazing.  We have eagles fly over and we had wolf cubs visit last spring too.  I get really stressed as hunting season approaches knowing what I will have to witness.  Last year some morons turned up with netting that they stretched totally across a field, from the road down to the calanchi.  Some then took dogs and chased everything into the nets whilst a couple of **** sat on their fat ***** waiting for these poor defenseless animals to get caught up in nets and then caught by dogs.  We screamed and screamed at them and told them we hope they come back as a snared rabbit in their next life.  And yes we have had deer destroy trees, rabbits eat vegetables etc - so what.  Life is more important and I would rather look at a graceful deer than a perfect tree.

I will start by saying that I am not an expert on Italian mortgages/charges or law but drawing on my experience in the UK I would strongly recommend that you speak to a solicitor and clarify the nature of these charges.  With an English mortgage a mortgage or any subsequent lender's charge would be removed on sale of property as sale would only be allowed to complete once all debts repaid.  However a legal charge could have nothing to do with borrowing against the property but with regard to a dispute with another interested party.  This could be a family member who feels they have claim to the property and in England this would prevent a sale even if said family member was having difficulty proving his claim.  Given that ownership in Italy is often more complicated than in England this may suggest rights over the property that you really need to be certain of.  good luck
