We now have a new addition to the family here, a orphaned leveret. It is only about 8 days old now, but seems to be doing quite well and putting on weight. Feeding it a kitten milk mixture. Anyone else had experience of bringing them up??

Because it was raining today, thought to do some price comparisons re non Italian B&B's to Italian ones in Marche. I will not name any, but to be honest, you are better staying in Italian establishments.

Would be interested in SC's qualifications for roadworthy. If a vehicle is UK registered, then it has to have tax and a valid MOT certificate. Other than that, it has to be on a SORN which exempts it from being driven anywhere, apart from a MOT station for testing purposes. The quote below is from their FAQ's"No, as long as the car is registered in the UK, we will offer a quotation."Would not like to go down the route of roadworthy without a certificate .......... could cost you thousands in the event of a claim, as sure the insurers would want a valid MOT or Revisione to certify the fact.
You might have to be quick to get the the Kayaks, it looks like they are already starting to drain the lake. Wife went to renew her details in July after the 5 years, and the woman in Amandola was adamant that it was only for 1 year despite her repeating the original advice you had researched. They said that it was only for Italians and not Stranieri, despite her having the full residence from the commune.Hopefully with your tenacity over the situation there will be a solution in the end. My full residency is not due until next year so will watch for your updates.
Unless things have changed, then Stuart Collins will only insure a UK registered and taxed vehicle, and they give you a years green card for use abroad. We used them before changing the registration on our car. Italsure on the other hand insure expats with Italian registered vehicles. The Italsure insurance documents are in Italian, so would therefore confuse the UK Post Office, just as my Saudi Arabian driving licence did to the car hire people at Heathrow, as it was valid until the year 1415.
Have used the other routes mentioned, apart from going through Switzerland. When we decided to tow the caravan down, we considered from knowing what it was like through Austria etc, that the best way was France - Mont Blanc - Italy. As it was a complete house change, we wanted to get down a.s.a.p. as the van was pretty well loaded to the limit. If that had not been the case and it was a holiday excursion then probably fine on the other route, as it is more scenic.
Agree with SanG about the route they took through France etc. We towed a caravan down some years ago and that route is the least stressful. Okay its more expensive, as the caravan seems to make the vehicle count as a lorry for the tolls. Once you get rolling though, then you will probably save fuel as it's a constant speed most of the time.
After 1 year with an Italian insurance company, we changed to Italsure. Citroen xsara 1.9 tdi US$900, 7 Seater Nissan pajero US$ 1200 at last years renewal. Both fully comprehensive and at least someone English to speak to if there are any problems.

Think you will find Elliven that once you go over the 3Kw supply limit that the cost is the same for resident and non-resident. Enel have got it into their heads that nobody needs more than 3kw in this modern day and age. It was much better in 2008 when you could work out exactly as to how much your bill would come in at.
