Hi all, I am trying to get the Ascoli Piceno ASUR13 to clarify the position regarding healthcare rights for permanent residents who are EU citizens. Currently, their ruling is that we may only have registration for 12 months at a time and that thi

My final recommendation for mountain restaurants (at least for the moment) is La Cittadella, again in Montemonaco. A wonderful mountain retreat with a pool with probably the best view in Marche!

Another lovely restaurant in the mountains. For good, hearty mountain food this is really excellent. We ate some of the best prosciutto I have ever eaten here, followed by cinghiale in Vernaccia with pappardelle - delicious!

I know this was on the old forum but I thought it was worth mentioning again. The restaurant Il Tiglio in Isola San Biagio (just outside Montemonaco) is something very different to the other restaurants in this area.

During my search for a document to take to the anagrafe office to shame the chap into giving me my permanent residency certificate, I found the state decree and subsequent circulars pertaining to the new (2007) residency laws.

Directline Italia will accept your no claims bonus from the UK but it must be expressed in years (not %ages) and be on a document or letter from your previous insurer and not more than 6 or 12 months old (sorry can't remember which). If you select they incorrect malus on the website when signing up then they will adjust it when they receive your no claims bonus doc and adjust your premium accordingly.Personally, I have yet to find anyone cheaper in Italy. I too got a very high quote from Italsure but I'm not sure if that is because my car is Italian registered.Remember that the maximum no. of years no claims bonus in the UK is 5 or 7 years (unless it has changed since I lived there) even though you may not have had an accident for 20 years! So you will only get 5 or 7 years recognised for your Italian Direct line policy. I have also claimed for a windscreen from Direct line and they were very efficient.

I have taken my dogs on Eurotunnel. I prefer it as one of my dogs is a bit nervous and leaving him in the car for 2 hours on the ferry with lots of banging and crashing didn't seem like a good idea. Sorry - I don't know what happens if you have a camper. As Gala says, they do need their passports whichever way you come.

I am afraid it is compulsory to have a dog guard if you are carrying more than one dog. Could you fold he back seats down and put a dog guard behind the front seats? Might make luggage a bit difficult........

I can recommend Avio Fioravanti they are very thorough and provide lots of services that other agents seem to charge for. They have an English translator they bring in for viewings but if you email them in English, they will respond in English. Over the phone is a little more difficult as their translator doesn't work fulltime.Don't suppose you fancy an old convent? See here

Sarah & Mark,BCC Picena in Comunanza are very cheap for an Italian bank. I pay €3.65 a month which includes all transaction fees and online banking. My Visa credit card costs €15 a year and as someone else said, it doesn't work like a UK credit card as you have to pay it all off each month. The even speak English!
