After moving to Italy things changed for me in a way I could never have imagined. One night I poured my heart out on a forum,(Italymag) I received at lot of help, support and advice from people who didn’t know me but were kind enough to care.

Seems a real shame to have had to demolish the house- could you not have had it underpinned?

If they are spraying it on a field to grow feed/grass for animals, thats quite different to putting it on a veg patch for human consumption. We have a farm and have been told by USL that we cannot put animal waste (even after being composted) on our produce unless we have a biologica certificate. So would think human waste would be a definate no no.

They are clearly talking sh+t! Trying to pull a fast one. We have one that would serve a family of eight, it has a run-off system so we only need to empty it every two years. The first time we did it we paid a 'Espurgo' (professional tank emptier) and it cost €100, second time €150 because he found a blocked pipe and stayed longer than normal. Had it done again last month and paid a local farmer €50 he took it to the communal sewer and didn't have to pay anything. So if you know 'people' localy try to get friendly with a farmer (you may have to bake a cake or something but it's well worth it!) Alternatively I would find another Espurgo because there is no way you should pay what you have been asked.

You could send a pm to Lotan4850 as I think he could help/advise on this. He has researched this stuff and also knows all about solar panels and which country to buy from.

I assume so, you'd have to check their web-sites.

Unfortunately you don't always find out the truth until it's too late, I would be very careful about recommending people as you may have a very different view in a years time.  In fact I would strongly recommend removing this post. An awful lot of Britsh ex-pats have had very bad experiences with the companys mentioned. I have pm'd you. The two companys you mention are run by members of the same family (brother and sister) who were previously in business together and thats why they are now both suggesting the other is corrurpt.

We have a small farm in Emilia Romagna, on a personal level chickens are no problem as long as less than 200, pigs on the other hand are limited to how many live in your house- we are a family of five and have been restricted to three pigs, if we wanted to keep more we would need to put in a septic tank to take away the waste, have three different fences up and the land would be inspected to make sure you had enough space. If you do keep pigs always best to have two at a time as they get lonely but they are very entertaining and we have had great fun with ours. We also have ducks, geese, 2 donkeys and a goat its a fab life go for it! Read about it here http://www.authonomy.com/books/815/oh-solo-me-
