I have just bought Philly to make a topping for a cake, and sadly did not taste it before adding icing sugar etc. It is not the same recipe as the English pack but instead is a savoury sauce!

Having enjoyed an abundance of delicious "Fiorentino" tomatoes all summer from 4 plants, the first ground frost has arrived in Casentino Alto, and I have now lots of green tomatoes. My day yesterday was a chutney one and I made 3 batches.

The price here is between €11 and €14 per quintal we paid €195 for 14.7 quintal which lasts a month for 1 large wood burner and 1 nordica kitchen stufa (range) The range is going 14 hrs per day, the large woodburner for 7 hrs per day. Last yer we used 75 quintal (€950). This was supplemented by a pellet stove on another floor, which used 40 bags of 15kg. It is about the same amount we used to pay in uk for a 3 bed insulated house (3 years ago) but here we have 5 beds and 3ft stone walls, and no insulation.

Since it is for pensioners, who have paid all their taxes and NI contributions for 39 years, I have no qualms is applying for it to suppliment the lowest state pension in Europe! Italians were protesting a few months ago because the average pension was €1,000 ----I wish mine was!!

We had an open fire in a huge old inglenook, which looked lovely and gave out no heat in our double hight living room, but with a large woodburner and an ecofan sitting on top it virtually heats the whole house - which is on 4 stories - as the heat keeps on rising. It also uses half the wood, and when the electricity goes off, which it often does, we do not have the pump problem. The kitchen has a Nordica white stufa(like a mini aga) on which we cook, it makes the kitchen the heart of the house, and an old jam pan full of water on the side, so we don't run the dishwasher in the winter. The not so ugly solar panel water(the best buy )means we rarely have to put on the electric water heater to boost the water, In fact we cant see the panel as the house is so tall!!

Yes its true..I look on this forum to see if there are useful bits of information for us living in Italy (full time), and to give any new info I have found, but there is always some clever clogs to shoot you down, not someone saying thanks for the tip! I wonder why I bother!

True but one question on the form - how old is your husband/wife means the other half of the couple has to fill in a form too...

Sun, 10/28/2012 - 07:38

Even if you are getting the UK state pension, the winter fuel allowance is not an automatic payment. You have to fill in the form, and my husband is not in receipt of the state pension is also entitled to the allowance.

Having a look at Fascicolo 1 page 106 as you suggested RAM, and it states under Argentina, UK, Spain, USA and Venezuela. State pensions are only liable for Italian tax if one has Italian nationality...... I can sleep peacefully now

I also pay tax in UK and have no income in Italy, and understood that I did not pay tax here as the UK insist I pay it in UK. I have just had a look for the "simple form" on the Agenzia delle Entrate and their IRPEF 770 Semplificato is 16 pages, and not designed for the average Joe. They must have some agreement with the commercialisti. So what exactly is this simple Form?
