(Re Woodburners )Are CO detectors widely available and mandatory as in the UK? I reckon we all should have them. Not seen them locally.

I wondered if anyone could explain how to calculate the car tax in Italy, I know it is to do with horse power etc but is there a useful website like our own DVL  site which can allow one to find out how much tax is paid  on say....

Italian tax as Modicasa says. Circumstances sound complicted. But you'll get it sorted.

If it is classed as your second home it could be racking up quite a tax bill over the years, the level of tax varies from comune to comune. In addition ENEL may well be owed  a sum for providing the lecky. The house will sell if the price is right. Good luck Billy

We needed an adviser like you Ugo, but it was very compex and fluid too. One house is enough!!

Become resident and then become  prey to Italian  tax rules? Out of the frying pan and into the fire Ugo.

The cost of maintaining a second home in Italy is a huge disincentive, what with the council tax , electric and security. We love Italy but sold our house at a big loss just to be free of all the outgoings as we were on a fixed income. Good luck with the sale I can empathise with your situation.

A friend of mine bought a car without residency, in line with EU directives.Three or four years ago indeed. However few car dealers  are  prepared to do it.  Another tiresome aspect of la bella vita.

I wouldn't bother with a pool, you will only be able to use it for a short time, unless you are installing a heating system. (Of course if you are planning on letting out then a pool is essential to maximise income.)  As regards a geometra, Maureen with Elite Puglia has some good contacts. Costs are generally higher than UK, even without the special 'Inglese'prices. Good Luck with the project. Ciao Billy
