Rome's Fori Imperiali To Be Entirely Lit Up at Night

Rome mayor Ignazio Marino said he is considering to implement a new lighting system to light up the entire Fori Imperiali area at night.

Marino, who recently inaugurated the reopening of Via Alessandrina at Trajan’s Markets as part of his plans to transform the Forum area into the “world's largest archaeological park”, mentioned the possibility during the presentation of a book by Oscar-winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, with whom he in talks to carry out the project.

"I've met with him already, with this goal in mind," Rome’s mayor said at the event. "We are now expecting from him an assessment on the structural conditions and the economic aspects of the project. We consider this a strategic intervention because nobody in the world who has an archaeological site like the Fori Imperiali would keep it dark at night. It's important to enhance it with lights that show creativity and spark an emotion in visitors."

The project may include the possibility to visit the Fori at night.
