Has everybody got their decorations up?  I'm feeling guilty!

Can anybody confirm that as of January 1st 2011, it will be actually illegal for shops to provide plastic bags for you to carry your shopping home?

Finally purchased our property in Le Marche - all signed, sealed and er paid for. And look forward to going there as often as possible.Maybe even meet up with a few ex-pats one day soon.

Managed to register for Water, Rubbish, Gas and Electricity all in the same day - fortunately everything was closeby.

Anyway, i've noticed that most Italians dont bother with house contents insurance, or even house rebuilding insurance for that matter - but its something I would like to know more about. Is it relatively more expensive than the uk, or cheaper?

We are lucky enough to be in Le Marche for new year's eve this year and were wondering what to expect in terms of local celebrations etc.

Are we likely to be dancing in the piazzas till the early hours or safely tucked up in bed?

I have a car insurance issue that I'm sure someone will have come across and solved before. My car is right hand drive and currently registered in the UK. I am thinking of bringing it to Italy for a few months next year, but at this stage, don't want to register it here.

I find it extraordinary that nobody has commented on the (okay, limited) collapses of walls and roofs in Pompeii, and I was delighted to see that the Italy Mag newsletter used this as a headline.
