I am doing some basic budgets and cash flows for setting up a rental business in Abruzzo.

I assume the tax system in Italy works in the same way as the UK i.e. submit earnings with receipts for credit card & cash payments, submit expences related to the business and pay tax on the balance,

What rate of tax would payable?

Do you have to pay straight away or can you stage payments?

When is the tax year end?

Is it advisable to employ an Italian accountant  for the basic stuff?

We send a fair amount of mail to the US from two different post offices here in Lunigiana. In the past three months, three letters to the US containing checks have not arrived. One of our neighbors has had a similar experience mailing to GB. Anyone else?

can anyone help with the mechanics of payment for a property.  We have contacted the Notaio with the options of payment but are not sure if we make the payment to a third party ie the notaio or to the vendor.
