A fairly comprehensive list of words related to food and wine has been prepared by a few of us. It still needs revision, corrections, additions and you may be able to help as it is a Wiki.

It is official, the old Casino in Bagni di Lucca is reopening its doors after many years; however, it is going to be a modern version, more "little Las Vegas" style than its elegant and exclusive predecessor.

A few weeks ago I started a thread in the old forum about this topic. I still think that it would be great if we could all share our favourite recipes which our families and friends enjoy.

It is most important, if you own a property, to have a clear description for it. That is possible through the "visura catastale" which gives you and confirms many facts regarding your title.

Polenta is one of those Italian dishes that you either love or hate. Considered in the past as the poor people's staple diet it is nowadays served in the best restaurants.

I have just seen on TV some images regarding the Treviso tornado. I sincerely hope that any members in the area have not suffered from this disaster.

Hi, this link has a lot of information regarding "procure" http://www.oliverpartners.it/power-of-attorney-for-use-in-italy/Did the Italian authorities explain the reasons why prior "procure" were insufficient?

Hi Gina, sorry to hear about your predicament. You really need legal help. There is an excellent lawyer accredited in both Italy and the U.K. who has been a member of this and other forums for many years and who has helped a large number of people to sort out legal problems. She is Charlotte Oliver http://www.oliverpartners.it/charlotte-oliver/ and you will have to contact her directly, as the private message facility which this forum had a few years ago has been suppressed.Perhaps all owners should bunch together to start a sole legal claim instead of doing it individually. I guess that the problems you have are common to every other owner.Best wishes.

Hi! Italians celebrate Christmas, New Year and Epyphany with their families and friends and for this reason many museums, shops and restaurants may be closed around those times. On the other hand, the cities have a festive atmosphere which is unique and delightful and churches are open. Many of Italy's artistic masterpieces are located in these churches. Have a look at these comments https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187791-i22-k6591358-Christmas_in_Rome_Should_we_do_it-Rome_Lazio.htmlI think that you will have a delightful time!

Yes, Modi, you are right, she also has to comply with the Italian citizenshipI requirements, and the main problem is whether she would be allowed to retain her Australian citizenship When she  applies for the Italian one (I guess that she intends to apply under ancestry rules and not residence) . This is most important as she needs to keep her Australian citizenship because she wants to continue being a Director in her Australian company and this has citizenship requirements. She will have no problems, dual and even multiple citizenship are nowadays allowed by both the Italian and Australian authorities. Problem solved! smiley

Australia recognizes dual citizenship. She will not loose her Australian citizenship if she applies for the Italian one https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Citi/Curr/Dual-citizenship

Oh well, everyone is entitled to have their own opinions, but when you see people who voted in favour of Brexit regretting their decision, Scotland and Northern Ireland considering secession, Cornwales voting in favour but wanting to keep EU subventions (what a cheek!)and people born and bred in the UK, who also fought for their country deprived from voting rights when most democratic countries maintain voting rights regardless of current residence... You can only think that it is a madhouse!!!Oh, wait, there is also the Gibraltar problem and all those expats living in EU countries...And, fortunately, I am not British. So you could call this an independent opinion.

Perhaps a substantial number of those who voted in favour of Brexit should  sign the petition pleading temporary insanity...

Hi again, CrystalBay, I think that what you need is to find an English speaking lawyer. The notary' stole in Italy only covers part of what you require http://www.italybuyingguide.com/content/italy-role-notary-italyAlso, sorry, but buying a top floor does not guarantee that you will not have problems with the whole of the building. And you should also consider that the roof does not belong to you alone, even if you own the top floor. It is common property. If you do not have a well organized body corporate ( a rare find in Italy, particularly in small towns) well... I would not touch it...Good luck with your search. This is a buyer's market at the moment, so make the most of it smiley
