Questions Asked

Yes, it's that time again. One month older and still up to my old tricks. Keeping my people on their toes. It's relly visiting season - something new to me as I am only 9 months old - and I am going to have some fun with them.

Not sure whether this is the best place for this question, but does anyone have any experience of using a repair service for electric appliances?

Hi Sprostini, I did the test this morning and it was 69, though when we tested it before we signed up it was around 73 - we have Alice 7 but never get anything like that! The service is good but we do get the odd 'buffering' sometimes when watching something you kind of get used to it. I believe the service is legal as they don't retransmit channels, and sorry I gave the wrong link, it should be www.getconnected.com.cy - I'll try and amend my earlier post as well. Hope this helps, JO

Hi its called Get connected www.getconnected.com and we've just had a months trial. They say you need at least 1mgb (think that's the term,)download speed which if we are lucky we get it but have managed to watch live tv with little interruption. It tends to depend on the day and time but its much better than when we trialled it last year so things are improving (our broadband speed hopefully!). Its 13.95 for a months trial and then if you sign up for monthly its 12.95. We wouldn't bother through the summer as never watch TV but Strictly Come Dancing is a favourite and the rugby during the autumn and winter and as we don't visit the cinema much we thought we would give it a try.  We still watch Italian TV to help improve our language skills. Hope this helpsJo

Yes, we were woken by it too, quite a strong shake, things on dressing table rattling .... seemed to last for ages but sure only seconds. Dogs slept through it though - well didn't make a sound anyway.Jo And Si

and brought it to her four kittens which she had kindly deposited on our doorstep about 7 weeks ago. It had no head but was very thin and silvery coloured. I got my OH to deal with it and throw it into the campo. Sadly they also caught a small blue tit which was also brought along to entertain them. We've had them come out of a water pipe when it has been raining the brown ones - maybe throw it a rubber ring? Sorry not helpful I know... Jo and Simon

Sibillini's post gives you the info.. A&R. If you have a wirelss internet connection in the house then you can pretty much have the radio anywhere in the property or even just outside, within reason.Loads of them on thje likes of Amamzon, but the postage is pretty high. Haven't seen much in the Italian market place though.Trying to save a few centissimi towards one and dropping major hints to my sons - although deaf ears at the mo. SimonandJo

Paul I understand that due to the spread of the Internet, short band wireless broadcast,s especially to Europe, by the World Service have been drastically reduced.Your best bet would be to either listen via your compouter or, better still, invest in an Internet Radio - saves having the computer on. SimonandJo

Thanks Angie and Robert - it doesn't seem worth picking the paltry amount we have but there is lots of new growth as we pruned hard but without the knowledge we have now! We've had better success with the grapes this year, but don;t have all the kit to make the wine! Also thanks Gala for the link very informative. This is what I love about living here, always learning something new... Thanks
